Mike Mearls, Writer of Stuff

Oddly enough, while I currently make my living designing games, the first thing I sold was not a game design but a (badly written) short story.

Warning: I have nothing to say about the human condition or any desires to achieve literary prominence. I like writing stories about things that 12 year olds get excited about. Some people would say that's because I'm a literary coward who doesn't want to risk failure by aiming too high.

Those who know me would say that, in some areas, there is a disturbing alignment between what I and 12 year olds like and enjoy.

According to my contract, I now have full rights to the short story I sold. In the near future, I'm going to revise it (the names are atrocious, to start with) and post it here.
